Ritzy strike for the London Living Wage

Workers at The Ritzy cinema in Brixton will be striking tomorrow for the London Living Wage. The strike will be from 9am on Friday to 3am Saturday morning. The picket will be at its largest after 6pm and we are asking campaigners to come and show their support.

The workers in Brixton are striking because Picturehouses is not paying them the London Living Wage. Picturehouses is now owned by Cineworld and is part of the largest chain in Europe. Most of the company’s employees earn less than the Living Wage and are on zero hours contracts.

London is the most expensive city in the world to live in and the gap between rich and poor is increasing. Workers from university staff to council workers have demanded and won the Living Wage. Please support the staff at Picturehouses in their struggle.

Send messages of support to the Facebook group: www.facebook.com/RitzyLivingWage and Twitter: @RitzyLivingWage

Send a message to Picturehouse Cinemas, telling them that you support the Living Wage for their workers: lyn.g@picturehouses.co.uk, alastair.o@picturehouses.co.uk and corporate@cineworld.co.uk

You can visit your local picture house cinema on the day to show support for the strike. We have produced a short leaflet for other Picturehouse workers. The 5 cinemas are Hackney, Stratford, Greenwich, Notting Hill and Clapham.
